Markus Lerchbaum is a 23-year-old filmmaker from Vienna. From 2016 - 2019 he studied filmmaking at the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, Austria and at the EWHA Womans University in Seoul, South Korea. He developed, directed and edited several fictional short films. In 2018, he assisted award-winning Pakistani director Sabiha Sumar and spent four months in Karachi, Pakistan. In 2019, they collaborated on the documentary "The Culture of the Kalash" commissioned by the German broadcasting channel "arte". Back in Austria, he continued working and collaborating on documentary projects together with Sabiha and started studying Political Science. Since 2020, Markus has been volunteering as a video editor and fundraiser for the human rights organisations "Asyl in Not" and the "Niger Delta Initiative Austria".
